Back to Tips & Hints
here's to a flat belly!

You want to maintain a flat belly & avoid the belly bloat before you go to the beach? Here are some things that may cause the bloat and other things that can avoid it.

1. You swallow air by skipping meals, eating too fast, chewing gum, sucking on hard candy or mints, and drinking through a straw. This traps air in your stomach and causes a belly bloat.

To avoid it, don't let more than five hours go by without eating, slow down, chew your food well, take your time with meals and snacks.

2. Avoid carbonated beverages such as sparkling water.

3. Cut down on salt and sodium such as soy sauce because that can was water retention in your body -> which leads to your belly bloat.

4. Avoid excess alcohol, since that leads to dehydration in your body, which can trigger rebound water retention --> leading to another belly bloat.

5. Avoid eating foods in big amounts. For example, even though salad is a low calorie healthy food, large amounts of it can take up a lot of space and cause a belly bloat. Go for amounts that take up less space in your belly.

6. Ginger tea has been proven to have a calming effect on your GI tract which in turn can decrease the gas in your stomach. That can help in reducing the bloat.
